Mission

Voorpret is a new movement dedicated to reimagining cultural travel by offering Cultural Holistays that is a short, immersive experience that allow users to explore the essence of a foreign culture without the need for long distance travel. Designed for cultural travel lovers seeking meaningful holidays, our service curates original, hyper local itineraries inspired by global destinations

By reducing the need for long haul flights, Voorpret not only combats post holiday blues but also contributes to lowering carbon emissions, making cultural exploration both sustainable and deeply enriching

Our goal is to bridge the gap between curiosity & accessibility, offering unique and authentic cultural encounters right in the user’s own city

Numbers

  • Successfully prototyped a Tokyo cultural experience with 6 participants, all of whom expressed strong interest in the service this included the Japanese Embassy in the UK

  • Developed an iterative + scalable model for curating immersive, localized itineraries

  • Collaborated with London business school to refine a viable business plan for execution

How it Works

Voorpret provides carefully curated half day or full day cultural itineraries, bringing the essence of a foreign city to life within a local setting. Users select a city they want to experience, and our service offers them a package of activities that authentically reflect the culture of that place

Each itinerary has client dependent

  • Culinary experiences traditional meals, cooking classes, or food tastings

  • Art & design immersion museum visits, craft workshops, or local street art explorations

  • Community engagement meetups with expats, language cafés, or storytelling sessions

  • Cultural rituals & traditions festivals, performances, or meditation practices

Making cultural travel more accessible, we aim to create meaningful and sustainable travel alternatives that fit seamlessly into daily life

Impact

Voorpret redefines what it means to travel by shifting the focus from distance to depth. Our approach ensures that cultural exploration is

  • Sustainable reducing carbon footprints by replacing flights with local experiences

  • Accessible so this allows people to engage with global cultures without barriers

  • Authentic whilst encouraging deep cultural appreciation through immersive, real world interactions

Challenges & Learnings

  1. Measuring impact in sustainability projects we felt developing metrics to quantify the effect on travel behaviors and carbon footprint reduction was a hard mark to measure

  2. Future oriented designs can be hard to address how cultural travel will evolve and ensuring long term adaptability

  3. Managing live prototyping across time zones coordinating international perspectives to enhance experience design will be a global challenge

Reflection

This project reinforced the power of my design toolkit in shaping real world solutions. Our team leveraged TEAL management principles (self motivation/ laissez faire leadership, & trust) to foster collaboration & creativity. Through three rounds of prototyping, we refined the concept, developed a service swimlane, and explored multiple revenue streams to make the business sustainable

The experience highlighted both my strengths in conceptual design & areas for growth, particularly in balancing practical execution with bold innovation. Ultimately, Voorpret stands as a forward thinking model for the future of cultural travel one that is immersive, impactful, & deeply fun
